Suzanne Blair
MBACP. PGdip. BA(Hons)I’m a psychodynamic counsellor and psychotherapist based in the east end of Glasgow. Psychodynamic counselling is a type of therapy that understands that our current feelings and behaviours can often be affected by past experiences and relationships. At times we can get stuck in patterns of managing feelings, often unconsciously, that impact how we respond or react in the moment. By exploring the link between our past and present we can begin to understand our responses, how and why they came about and through this make difference choices for ourselves.
How It Works
We can all struggle at times but I believe that given the right support at the right time, we all have the capacity to create positive change. The therapeutic process can help you to feel less stuck and help to improve your day-to-day experiences and relationships. I have over 25 years experience working within the field of mental health. This has given me a wide knowledge of the variety of difficulties that we can experience and how to support them.
My approach allows you to go at your own pace and gently work through issues to understand the root and cause. You will be encouraged to speak openly and freely about whatever is relevant for you, without judgement. We will work together to explore challenging feelings or experiences and through this support you to become freer and more fulfilled.
I work in person for short time limited sessions, or longer term depending on your needs. It can be hard to find the right therapist and it needs to feel the right fit for you so I offer a free 15 minute phone consultation where we can talk through what is happening for you now and what you would like to achieve.
Consistency is key to the process and the therapeutic alliance/relationship between therapist and client is an important part of the work therefore sessions are usually weekly. Sessions are 50minutes long and take place on the same time and day, although there can be some flexibility around that where time allows.
Equity, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion
I advocate and promote accessible emotional wellbeing across all sections of society and welcome enquiries from all, regardless of gender, race, ethnicity, religion, disability, sexual orientation, age or health. I am committed to building a culture and society that celebrates diversity, is fair, open and inclusive and free from discrimination. Further to this I operate in accordance with the BACP Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions.
I appreciate the variety of human experience and culture
I strive for the fair and adequate provision of services,
I act in line with the principle of justice – fair and impartial treatment of all clients and the provision of adequate services.
